About
I have worked in clay and ceramics since 1985. I am largely self-taught: from a home studio in Kyiv I learned through books, trial and error, and long hours at the wheel.
From 1985 to 1990 I worked in a direction I call “Archaeological Pottery”—forms meant to echo ancient ceramics from excavations: restrained, without loud ornament. In those years I also took part in group exhibitions. In 1990 I was named Master of Folk Art of Ukraine by the Artists’ Union of Ukraine; after that I took part in salons and fairs in Kyiv, Moscow, Yalta, and Saint Petersburg, and for many years I returned each year to major fairs, including Sorochyntsi and Andriivskyi Descent in Kyiv.
My work has been shown in galleries and shops, used in cafés and offices, and found its way into private collections in many countries. Alongside my own practice I taught sculpture and ceramics—workshops for children and private lessons for adults.
I have lived in Jerusalem since 2015; in 2016 I received certification as a master of the highest category. I continue to teach ceramics privately.
